Best Time of Year for a Wedding in Turkey: Month by Month Guide

Choosing the best time of year for a wedding in Turkey is one of the most important decisions you will make — and one of the most forgiving, because Turkey gives you a genuinely long season to work with. The Aegean and Mediterranean coastline enjoys one of the longest and most reliable outdoor event seasons in the world. Compared to Italy, Greece, or Spain, Turkish coastal weather is predictably excellent from late April through to the end of October — a six-month window that gives couples genuine flexibility.

But the season is not uniform. July and August are hot, expensive, and crowded. May and October offer near-perfect conditions with significantly lower costs. And certain regional variations mean that Antalya can be reliably good when Fethiye is windier, and vice versa.

This guide takes you through every month to help you choose the ideal date.

Understanding Turkey’s Climate Zones

The Aegean and Mediterranean coasts share a broadly similar climate pattern: hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. But there are meaningful variations:

  • Bodrum and the Aegean coast tends to be windier in July and August (the Meltemi wind), which is welcome in the heat but can be challenging for outdoor decorations and floral arrangements.
  • Antalya and Belek is the most reliably hot and calm — this is a beach holiday region with minimal wind in summer.
  • Fethiye, Oludeniz, and Kalkan enjoys some of the warmest sea temperatures on the coast but also sees occasional Meltemi gusts in mid-summer. The mountains behind the coast create occasional micro-weather.

For all three regions, rainfall is almost entirely absent from May through October. A rain plan is essentially redundant from mid-May through September.

Month by Month

January and February

Temperature: 10–15°C in Antalya, 8–13°C in Bodrum and Fethiye.
Rain: Frequent, particularly in Antalya and Fethiye.
Venue availability: Most boutique venues and beach clubs are closed.
Summary: Not suitable for outdoor coast weddings. Some Antalya resort hotels remain open year-round and can host indoor events, but this is generally not destination wedding season.

March

Temperature: 13–18°C, warming through the month.
Rain: Decreasing but still present, particularly in the north of each region.
Venue availability: Many venues begin to open or reopen in late March.
Summary: Marginal. Can work for intimate indoor-outdoor celebrations in Antalya, where the weather warms earliest. Still too cold and unpredictable for most Bodrum and Fethiye venues.

April

Temperature: 18–22°C, genuinely spring-like.
Rain: Occasional light showers, mostly clearing by mid-April.
Venue availability: Many venues officially open in April.
Summary: An underrated month. The landscapes are spectacularly green, wildflowers are in bloom across the hillsides, and daytime temperatures are extremely comfortable. Bodrum and Antalya in mid-to-late April can be superb for outdoor weddings. Evenings are mild but not warm — factor in shawls or a statement jacket for guests.

April tip: Peak spring flowers make for exceptional floral arrangements at lower cost than summer months. Photography in April light is outstanding.

May

Temperature: 23–27°C.
Rain: Very rare after the first week.
Venue availability: All major venues open.
Pricing: Shoulder season — significantly lower than July/August, often 15–25% cheaper.
Summary: One of the best months for a Turkish coast wedding. Temperatures are genuinely warm without being exhausting; the sea is swimmable from mid-May; the landscape is lush and vibrant. Hillside Beach Club Fethiye opens in May and May weekends book quickly for weddings. Excellent value.

May tip: Water temperature is around 20–22°C — warm enough for swimming, which your guests will appreciate during the daytime.

June

Temperature: 28–32°C.
Rain: Essentially zero.
Wind: Meltemi begins to build in the northern Aegean; limited impact on Bodrum, minimal in Fethiye and Antalya.
Pricing: Moving into shoulder-peak. Prices rise through June as summer approaches.
Summary: Excellent. June is increasingly popular with UK and German couples who want genuine summer heat without the peak July–August crowding and pricing. Evenings are warm and beautiful. The sea is perfect. Venues are busy but not overloaded. June is arguably the sweet spot.

July

Temperature: 32–36°C, sometimes 38°C in Antalya.
Rain: None.
Wind: Meltemi wind active — strongest in Bodrum, present in Fethiye, minimal in Antalya.
Pricing: Peak — highest prices of the year.
Availability: Most popular dates book 12–18 months in advance.
Summary: The most in-demand wedding month but also the most challenging. Extreme midday heat means ceremonies must be in the morning (before 11am) or late evening (after 7pm). The Meltemi wind in Bodrum can cause havoc with flower arrangements, table settings, and fabric decorations — ask your venue specifically about wind management.

July tips:

  • Schedule your ceremony for 7pm–8pm when temperatures have dropped to 28–30°C
  • Choose heavier centrepiece arrangements and weighted décor
  • Ensure the venue has ceiling fans or air conditioning for the reception space
  • Book catering with capacity for heat management (ice cream stations, fresh fruit, cold appetisers)

August

Temperature: 32–36°C consistently.
Rain: None.
Wind: Meltemi at its peak in Bodrum.
Pricing: Peak — highest of the year.
Summary: Similar to July, August is beautiful but logistically demanding. Everything must account for heat. Antalya in August is the most reliably calm (the Belek coast is better sheltered from the Meltemi than Bodrum), making it a stronger choice for August outdoor weddings than Bodrum’s exposed coastal venues.

Note on Ramadan: Ramadan’s date shifts each year by approximately 11 days. In some years, Ramadan falls in late spring or summer months. During Ramadan, some Turkish staff and suppliers may fast during daylight hours, which can affect energy and availability. This is generally manageable with awareness and courtesy, but worth noting when choosing dates.

September

Temperature: 28–32°C early in the month, easing to 25–28°C by late September.
Rain: Still essentially absent until the very end of the month.
Wind: Meltemi winds die down through September.
Pricing: Shoulder season, dropping back from August peaks.
Summary: Many experienced couples and planners consider September the best wedding month in Turkey. The heat is comfortable rather than exhausting; the Meltemi is gone; the sea remains warm (26–28°C); tourist crowds thin out; and prices are noticeably lower than July–August. September evenings have a golden quality of light that is exceptional for photography.

September is widely considered the best-value premium wedding month on the Turkish coast.

October

Temperature: 22–26°C.
Sea temperature: 22–24°C — still swimmable.
Rain: Some chance of rain in the second half of October, particularly around Fethiye.
Pricing: Low shoulder season — excellent value.
Summary: Early October is superb — warm, calm, beautiful light, and competitively priced. Late October becomes more marginal as autumn weather begins to move in. Many boutique venues and beach clubs close by the end of October.

For a cost-conscious wedding that still delivers genuine Turkish coast summer conditions, early October (first 2–3 weeks) is an excellent choice.

November and December

Most outdoor coastal venues are closed. Some Antalya resort hotels continue to operate for indoor events. Not suitable for destination coast weddings.

Regional Timing Differences

Bodrum

The Meltemi wind means June and September are preferable to July–August for outdoor ceremonies. The wind is less problematic for indoor or partially-covered events. Six Senses Kaplankaya on the northern Bodrum coast is better sheltered than peninsula venues such as Mandarin Oriental Bodrum and Macakizi Hotel, which face the open Aegean.

Antalya and Belek

Antalya is sheltered from the Meltemi, making it the strongest choice for July and August outdoor weddings. The resort infrastructure is also best equipped for heat management. Regnum Carya Belek and other Belek hotels have excellent shade structures and air-conditioned event spaces.

Fethiye, Oludeniz, and Kalkan

This region benefits from mountain breezes that can actually be refreshing in summer. May, June, and September are the sweet spots. Villa Mahal Kalkan and Hillside Beach Club both operate May–October with peak availability in June–September.

Venue Availability and Booking Timelines

MonthAdvance Booking Required
July (Saturday)14–18 months
August (Saturday)14–18 months
June (Saturday)12–14 months
September (Saturday)10–14 months
May8–12 months
October6–10 months

The rule: Contact your shortlisted venues at least 12 months before any June–September date you have in mind. Turkey’s luxury venue market has limited capacity and popular dates sell out.

Considering Ramadan and Turkish Public Holidays

Ramadan (Ramazan in Turkish) is the most important scheduling consideration after weather. When Ramadan falls in summer months, it affects:

  • Catering staff (fasting during daylight hours)
  • Some local vendors and suppliers
  • The atmosphere in Turkish towns near your venue

In 2026, Ramadan runs approximately from mid-February to mid-March (approximately 18 February – 19 March), well clear of the main wedding season. Check the dates for your target year early in your planning process.

Turkish public holidays to be aware of:

  • 23 April — National Sovereignty and Children’s Day
  • 1 May — Labour Day
  • 19 May — Youth and Sports Day
  • 30 August — Victory Day (a high-demand weekend in Turkish resorts)
  • 29 October — Republic Day

Long weekends around public holidays see increased domestic Turkish tourism at coastal resorts, which can affect availability and pricing.

Final Recommendation

If you can be flexible on dates, the ideal months for a Turkish destination wedding are June, September, and late May — in roughly that order of preference. These months deliver exceptional weather, beautiful conditions, and better availability and pricing than the peak July–August period.
